Training

How’s my training going ?

Its winter time, but I wont stop and rest i will use the winter to get myself strong for the up and coming Fell season.  Fell is going to be my major focus this year but I have one eye on the Manchester Marathon too. I will be combining hill reps, with long trail runs and plenty of recces.  to see more details on my training please see my blog.  http://cannonballevents.wordpress.com

I keep a diary of all my racing and training: time, distances, HR etc, etc . This helps me keep and track  of my progress and ensures I peak for races when required.

I use downloadable plans like the ones below.

Beginner – all major distances

5k – audible 5k plan for beginners

Advanced – all major distances
I have used these plans myself – especially good for club athletes looking to step up to the mark !!

I also use several weight-training exercises to improve my upper body and core strength.  Having good muscle tone and posture is vital for maintaining fast efficient technique.  This is especially important to be able to perform when you are tired and your technique can falter.  Please see videos below for evidence of these.  Some moves are easier than others but all can be achieved with time and patience.

Charity information link

Each year I will donate a percentage of my profits to a different charity.  This year in honour of my Grandma (Joan Mary Lloyd) I am donating to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.  This is a very worthy charity and offers amazing facilities and respite for both patients and families dealing with Cancer and the effects of the illness.

Collection buckets may also be placed at the different events to ask for further loose change to help with their funds.
